Reviewed by Tim Stegall (Austin Chronicle) Scourges of the long-gone Soap Creek Saloon, Austin's Uranium Savages come roaring back to life after a 30-year absence from the recording studio. Time hasn't stemmed their coarse, ill-mannered irreverence and sharp satirical wit, with Kerry Awn still firmly in place as the main voice. As the title proclaims, the Savage wit turns to country music with an accuracy of twang and a mandate to offend in the best possible fashion. How two-steppers at the Broken Spoke would take "Real Men," which veers the trucker song towards Monty Python's "Lumberjack Song" ("Real men wear women's clothing!"), or the reformed party girl saga "Bicker, Leer & Whine" is unknown. They'll likely be too busy scootin' boots to Uranium Savages' authentic honky-tonk mojo to notice how hard their legs are being pulled. Seriously funny.
